Acute care patients must progress to and be able to tolerate a minimum of three hours of therapy daily and have the ability to remember and follow directions. To achieve maximum impact, a patient’s goal is to participate in therapy twice a day, six days a week, and one therapy session on day seven.

Following the physician’s referral, patients are evaluated, admitted and introduced to their interdisciplinary team of caregivers. Under the direction of a medical director, the Mercy team develops a patient’s plan of care including short-term and long-term goals to maximize abilities and regain the highest level of wellness. Family education and participation in a patient’s care are strongly encouraged.
