The public is invited to a wine and cheese reception celebrating local artist Lynda Smith Touart, on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 3:30 to 5 pm at Portier Place, a Mercy Medical independent living community.
Touart, a native of Mobile, has a BFA from the University of South Alabama (USA) and a MFA from Florida State University. Touart has been employed as a screen printer and darkroom technician, painting and drawing instructor for USA and Faulkner State University and currently is a medical illustrator for USA College of Medicine.
Touart most recently exhibited her work in the Celebrating Our Maritime Heritage: A Coastal Holiday 2011-12; Botanicals, at Church of the Redeemer, 2012; Colors of the Coast at Cathedral Square Gallery, 2012; Dog Days charity exhibition at Mobile Arts Association 2012; and Artacopia invitational exhibition at University of South Alabama.
Its important to me that my work not look like a photograph not easy considering that I work from photographs. I use my digital camera as a sketchbook and change the photographs in Photoshop until I get a composition that pleases me. In that way, digital photography has been a great help in the preparation for my work, stated Touart.
Portier Place is located 4363 Old Shell Rd, Mobile, Ala. For more information on independent retirement, please call 251-343-4449 or go online at mercymedical.com/PortierPlace.
