- a physicians referral
- a major mental diagnosis as determined by the American Psychiatric Association
- patient must be homebound except for occasional outings
- a need for medical services that are intermittent, reasonable and necessary, as defined by Medicare

Mercy Neuro-Psychiatric Home Care is administered by a team of trained, healthcare professionals including a patients physician; a medical director; skilled nurses (specialized in neuro-psychiatry); home health aides; a social worker; physical, occupational, respiratory* and speech therapists; a pharmacist;* a registered dietitian;* and a chaplain.
